Pug Ugly and Pretty Dead

Dogs make Ray Canin nervous. Reluctantly, the Scottsdale feature writer takes on an assignment to write about Rhino Holloran, a homeless ex-con, and his prize pug. He finds Holloran's shack in the middle of a dry Phoenix river bottom, But Canin never files the story. Instead, he's implicated in the murder of the very man he set out to interview. But the victim's sister is not interested in finding the real killer. She hires Canin to track down the pug, missing since Holloran's murder. The pug knows things.
