According to her stepmother, Elizabeth Bennet is ungrateful, selfish, and not very pretty. Lizzy spends her days waiting on her stepmother and spoiled stepsisters, working at her family's cafe (or what's left of it), and battling wits with the popular crowd-especially the aloof Will Darcy. Her only sources of relief are her best friend and her mystery pen pal, the brooding but thoughtful Closet Poet. They finally meet in person at the homecoming masquerade, but she has to run before they can reveal their true identities.
With the haze of their romantic evening gone, both she and Closet Poet face self-doubt, each fearing disappointing the other. It doesn't help that Lizzy is forced to spend time with Will-because maybe he isn't as bad as she thought. In fact, this Will is charming enough to make her fall for him.
And that's a problem, because she's already given her heart to Closet Poet.
