Sandra Stanford and Steven Hoyt from The Reluctant Courier had a daughter, Sara. She has grown up under her father's tutelage. Steven Hoyt, a retired Navy SEAL and US Congressman; who now runs his own high end security business. He trained Sara to be completely self reliant and an expert in self defense. He didn't want her to need a knight in shinning armor, he wanted her to know how to wield the sword herself! Growing up she would often be seen in military fatigues, running on the SEALS obstacle courses or practicing on the shooting range.

Now Sara is facing the challenge of a lifetime, the one her father tried to prepare her for but hoped she never had to face. He is missing, possibly kidnapped or possibly murdered. No one seems to believe that he is alive, so she has to form her own search party, pairing up with a newly discharged Navy SEAL, Kurt Rutledge, who was looking to work for her father.
