My name is Charlotte Harrington, which is the least important thing about me.

I wrote this book to catalogue the major events of my days trapped in the attic-the place where I lost my self, and then found it again.

You might think these writings are a condemnation of my sanity, but I am of an age which permits me to dismiss the judgment of others, granting me the freedom to publish this work without deference to your opinions.

If anyone has lost their mind, it is the buffalo. You will understand better when you see what it said.

Now, you might have heard of me, or at least seen my family name in the gossip columns. I assure you, I have nothing to do with them. I have my own family now, in the attic.

Some of them might be ghosts.
