" I liked the book very much. It's well written, moves fast, with vivid characters and interesting settings. The dialog is great.... a fantastic first novel." - Douglas Preston, Co-Author of the NY Times Best Selling Agent Pendergast and Nora Kelly series.

Growing up in Northern New Mexico to a poor Irish father and Mexican mother, Jude and Billy James were outlaws from the day they were born, only having each other to rely on.

After Billy returns home a reluctant WWII hero, he attempts to reignite with his old flame, Adeline Simon. Because Billy is poor and a coyote - half white half Mexican - her father, Edwin, spurs Billy. During a gala, Edwin attacks Billy, who Billy kills... maybe in self defense.

Jude, once a feared marshal, now turned family man and lawyer, convinces Billy to turn himself in, throwing himself at the mercy of the wheels of justice. But Edwin's son, Darcy, hires the ruthless Pinkerton Agency to throw a wrench in those wheels, and Billy is sentenced to death by a kangaroo court.

On the night before Billy is set to hang, Jude breaks him out of a jail and they set off on a cross country journey dodging the law, the Ku Klux Klan and taking dead aim at the Pinkertons who turned their whole lives upside down. Along the way, the brothers' rugged bond will also be tested by their own demons...when they need each other most.
