The Trip

It's 1982. Callista York and her friends at the elite Peregrine School are supposed to be applying to Ivy League colleges, but Callista and her bestie Adam prefer to hunt for psilocybin mushrooms in his shiny muscle car. Callista and Adam are devoted to protecting one another from scrutiny; he can't let his violent father know his sexual identity, and she can't admit to being haunted by sexual trauma. When Callista's parents leave for a self-realization retreat out of state, she and Adam escape to the ski slopes where they drink mushroom tea and stumble into a psychedelic world full of fantastic creatures and childhood whimsey. Callista feels alive for the first time in ages, but when a lower classman disappears into the mountains without a trace, Callista wonders: was the place they went real? And is the missing girl still there?
