Sean Byrne thinks he is accepting a normal archaeological job in the Special Projects division of the Quari Group, a multinational corporation.

His new employer wants to restore magic to the world, and tasks Sean with finding the missing pieces of the artifact required to succeed.

A fanatical cult seeks the same prize, but harbors a darker intent-loosing an evil that has been imprisoned for eons.

A hidden war rages, with each side racing to control the relic. Sean tumbles headlong into the conflict, encountering elves, vampires, shifters, and other mythical beings that challenge his beliefs, test his courage, and threaten his success-and survival.

With a growing list of allies, enemies, and a shifting worldview, his stress levels are skyrocketing. After all, if he fails, the world is toast. And not good toast-gross, burnt, soggy toast nobody wants.
