Welcome to Emerald Bay, a small town nestled in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, where everyone knows their neighbors and visitors to the nearby lake are welcomed as friends... Alex Rivers never expected to return to her hometown. But twelve years after graduation, she finds herself back in Emerald Bay, running her Granny Lu's cafe. It's a far cry from head chef at an upscale restaurant, but life rarely goes according to plan. Despite the warning from Deacon Lane, her neighbor/nemesis/chief of police, to stay out of it, Alex can't help but follow the clues to clear the good names of both her best friend and Lulu's Cafe. But the deeper Alex digs, the more convoluted the mystery becomes, and soon suspects are popping up everywhere. Alex must unravel the tangled web in which she finds herself and identify the real killer, before it's too late and she becomes a victim herself.
