The Mirror and the Prism is a historical adventure Christian fantasy series written for young adults and adults. It is based on the premise that God's creation is more wonderous and complex than we know. Those with the ability to reflect and refract creation's primal light can see and enter all of it.
The series is neither whimsical nor allegorical. The characters must deal with chronic illness, bereavement, feelings of helplessness, anger with God, and their own shortcomings. However, they come to understand God's plans for their lives, solve mysteries, and prevail in battles with evil beings. Dark subjects are treated seriously but counterbalanced by humor and ultimate triumphs.
Point of Refraction completes the story begun in Silhouette, the first book in the series. Gwen and the boys must thwart a demonic plot to destabilize all creation, but they are untrained, and their mentor, Sir Geoffrey, is still missing. The second half of Sir Robert's vision remains obscure, and the clandestine War Cabinet meeting looms. Worst of all, Miss Harkless is back. Gwen has to match move with countermove, operating in the Primary World to escape the occultist's traps. And her relationship with Patrick has become confused and strained. Meanwhile, Jack is adrift on dark currents. Demons press their attacks spiritually-and physically when they can. All three teenagers will have to put aside their quarrels and personal wishes if they are to prevent Miss Harkless's special entertainment from manipulating Prime Minister David Lloyd George, Winston Churchill, and the rest of the Imperial War Cabinet.
