After a devastating meteorite storm that blasted the Earth for seven days, civilization quickly devolved. In the states, corporate factions employed armies called the Neighwah to enslave and confine the residents within their territories. The factions rained war on each other without mercy for power, territory, and precious resources. In the aftermath of the plundering, allied territories developed a caste system that separates the people. The dailys, those at the lowest level, were left unprotected and completely dependent on the meager allotments the corporates provided for labor.

Jillian is a daily clinging to a promise of hope. She is sworn to secrecy about a sanctuary city, but she prays the shadow group with its cryptic messages and military procedures will forgive her for telling her sister.
