Detective Barronson having solved the Aragon Hotel Murders, finds himself investigating a young girl's body found at the Grant Park Wishing Well. At first it looks as if she had been murdered, but upon his and the coroner's preliminary inspection they can find no reason for her death. This girl's death leads Barronson into a web of related and unrelated murders seeming to involve a Zoo Curator Robert Cochran and several of his employees. Then a new murder leads him to his almost wife and her mafia soon-to-be husband becoming prime suspects as well.
