This is a book intended for the child to read to the parents, guardians, or teachers, anyone who has control in raising the child. Its purpose is to remind adults that a child needs to grow up doing those things that children do. The adult is not supposed to impose mature subjects on a child that may harm the child, and things the child will regret experiencing later in life, especially if those things are nonreversible. A child is supposed to enjoy his or her youth and not expect to be burdened with the weight of the world on his or her shoulders. Adult concepts are for adults and are not appropriate for a child. Think back to when you were a child and what you enjoyed as a child. Think about what the child wants and not what you want. Hopefully the illustrations will drive home the point that a child needs the freedom to grow up. Your job is to keep that child safe, and to teach the basics in life, especially self-confidence, self-respect and respect for others, including authority. Do your job as a guidance counselor and you will have a happy, confident, and successful adult.
