The Denney Bear and Papa Series comes to you through a life of stories and meaning.The author and illustrator are first cousins, and only 6 months apart in age. Growing up like best friends, the two spent nearly every summer camping on a lake in Arkansas with their Grandpa at the lead. A veteran and family man, married to his wife of 58 years, their Grandpa was extremely present during their childhoods: teaching them about the outdoors, boating, fishing, camping, and so much more. He had a quiet strength, was always there for his family without complaint, and could fix nearly anything. He is who Papa is modeled after in this series. Even though he passed away before the majority of his great-grandkids were born, his legacy will be passed on through this series in what he teaches Denney Bear and in the way he provides him with strength and comfort.

Denney Bear is named after Caitlyn’s father who is Papa to her own daughters, and whose favorite animal is none other than the Bear.
