Functionally substituted carboxylic acids and their derivatives are widely used in the chemical industry, pharmacy, and fine organic synthesis. The acids and their derivatives used in the above areas are stable substances, but this does not apply to all acids; there is an exception in a series of acids that deserve some attention. These are ?-hydroxybutyric acids. The first member of this series was identified as a sodium salt, which has been used in medicine for many years, in particular in anesthesiology and ophthalmology. It was established that ?-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) plays an important role in the human central nervous system. On the other hand, it is known that various heterocyclic compounds, in particular 1,2,4-triazoles, can be easily obtained from carboxylic acids. It is obvious that the development of a method for synthesizing GHB hydrazide is of primary importance for solving the problem. Based on the above, it can be assumed that the introduction of the GHB-a residue into the molecules of a biologically active substance can lead to the manifestation of new useful properties in this class of compounds.
