Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis is a satirical novel that explores the emptiness of middle-class American life in the 1920s. The story follows George F. Babbitt, a successful real estate agent in the fictional city of Zenith. Outwardly, Babbitt seems to embody the ideal American businessman-materialistic, conformist, and proud of his social standing.
