After the debacle that became his life in Chicago, Connor Jones West wastes away in Key West, Florida. His friend and mentor, Bob Marlow finds Connor living in a decrepit apartment, drinking himself into oblivion, and baiting hooks on his best friend Rat's fishing boat.

The commission excites him, but creates ethical conflicts. However, fate intervenes when West discovers that Rat is in deep trouble. Only Connor and a ragtag group of Conchs' can save his friend and plan revenge for the horror that has now become the Voodou Island.
