I went to bed, but I woke up in the middle of the night with a feeling of dread. I adjusted my pillow wondering if it had been a bad dream. Dark depression is the only way I can explain the intense discomfort I was feeling. My peace and joy were gone. I decided to get up, so I turned over in my bed. "If I can't have you, no one can!" Chloe screamed and sank a knife into my groin. The pain was excruciating; I rolled out of bed to get away from her. When I hit the floor she raised the knife and flung herself at me again. I grabbed her hair and pulled her down to the floor, but she managed to slash my arm. Blood spurted everywhere. I felt like I was going to pass out, so I grabbed her arm and pulled one more time. Her scream was deafening; I knew I had cut her. I was fading out of consciousness, and I thought I heard someone else in the apartment. I saw a man standing over me, but I knew I was dying.
