Tracey Hyun is nearly out of money after being laid off from the only job she's ever had, when she suddenly inherits a farm from her grandparents she's never known. Feeling hopeful that her luck is changing, she moves to Piscataquis County, Maine, looking for a new start. That's when she runs smack into Gideon Spencer, a deputy with the Piscataquis County Sheriff's Department, the literal man of her dreams. Literally, she's been dreaming about him for the last decade.

Drawn to each other, Tracey and Gideon enter a romantic relationship just as the investigation into the disappearances of 3 women starts to heat up.

Things get complicated when the body of Christine Richards, Gideon's runaway bride from 4 years prior, washes ashore at Greeleys Landing on Sebec Lake.
