Becoming a Leader Worth Following

The world is in desperate need of a different leadership role model. Everywhere we look, whether it is in our businesses, the government, or our churches, we see examples of abandoned values, betrayed trust, exploitation, manipulation, and the loss of integrity that often brings ruin to organizations and the people belonging to them.

The leadership role model that most of us have encountered is summarized by the statement: "It's all about me." Self-promotion and self-protection are key motivators for many of today's leaders. We need a better way - a perfect leadership role model we can always count on and trust. We believe his name is Jesus!

Leading a small band of men over two thousand years ago, Jesus of Nazareth may be considered a most unlikely model for leadership. One of his followers turned out to be a traitor and committed suicide; the other eleven abandoned him at his greatest time of need after he had spent three years investing in them. Furthermore, the organization he catalyzed never really took off until long after he had ascended to heaven. A model for successful leadership? Hardly.

Yet we believe that Jesus of Nazareth - hailed as Teacher, Savior, and Lord - was the greatest serving leadership role model ever. What he set in motion over two millennia ago, continues to expand and influence people from every land and language around the world. Redefining authority and power, his leadership paradigm underpinned a movement that continues to reverberate into the future.
