It's springtime in the small coastal town of Quinby Haven. The bed and breakfast, Rousseau's Retreat, is fully booked. Among the curious mixture of guests are a possible long-lost heir, a fussy, high-maintenance writer, a sad little man toting a backpack, and a woman who is doing a poor job of faking her vacation. And as the Fates would have it, each and every one of them has something to hide. So do some of the town's local residents. But secrecy is a dangerous thing. Secrets have the power to hurt others. When an elderly man goes missing while treasure hunting, his wife calls upon a well-known group of amateur sleuths to help track him down.
