MY UNLIKELY JOURNEY In 1994, finally acknowledging the inner discontent I'd lived with for so long, I abandoned my attempts at a corporate career. Instead, despite my introverted personality, I chose to consult back to corporate. I could see that most corporate inhabitants were also suffering and I was convinced that there was a better way. My goal was to help businesses find their soul, but it proved difficult, given that I had yet to find my own.

That's when, against my better judgement, I was talked into attending a ten-day workshop that would profoundly alter the rest of my life. It was tough, but oh so revealing. I found myself peeling back layer after layer of who I'd become; my deeply embedded synthetic identity. For the first time I came face to face with my irresistible need to impress the world, and the terrible personal cost of my dysfunctional belief system. It was exposed for being more destructive than I'd imagined. I'd learned more from my father than I'd cared to admit.

Despite the personal growth which the workshop and subsequent events gifted me, I remained committed to the material journey I'd always been on. I knew no other way.

As it turned out, despite the material success of my consulting business, I eventually had to lose almost everything before stumbling, per chance, across the self-accountability path which had so far eluded me. Only once you've been there, can you truly comprehend what others have experienced, and what it takes to rescue yourself from what could so easily become the end of the road.

As difficult as it was to pull off, I knew that I'd have to dig deep, put on a brave face and be accountable for who I'd become; and, yes, how I was going to find my way back.

UNLOCKING THE POWER OF SELF-ACCOUNTABILITY, is the culmination of that journey. It's a compilation of my insights, knowledge, models and unconventional approach to restoring body, mind and soul. It's about unshackling from the dysfunctional marinade we're immersed in, and which, despite the pain, we've been convinced into believing is our heaven.
