Rushdie's promising start was obvious from the onset... And after the publication of his first novel, he was hailed as a writer to watch and his second novel was awarded one of the most prestigious literary prizes in Europe.

In the midst of the thriving, it's been a wave of controversy for the author. The Muslim community all across the world was infuriated because of Rushdie's fourth novel, which was titled "The Satanic Verses." Many around the world, condemned him to death as a result of the publication of the book.

Sadly, On the 12th of August, 2022, Salman Rushdie was attacked as he was set to appear at an event at Chautauqua, New York. Just prior to the moment that he was going to deliver a speech, another man raced onto the stage and stabbed him multiple times.
