In this novel a young Artificial Intelligence (AI) guru invents a new ski called a Turboski or T-Ski. It's a platform for use on water and snow which uses small side-mounted turbojets to propel the user out of danger. The youth, Webster Sterling, is an orphan who attends UCLA . The young inventor inherits a 220-foot yacht called an Aquaclipper made in Hobart, Australia where the company owner wills the craft to the young Aussie. The ship, which he names Bald Eagle One or "Baldie" is moored in Long Beach, California where T-Skis can be tested. Web advertises to find surfer students at UCLA to live aboard his craft and continue to develop the T-Skis. Web, the consummate inventor, develops a device to open tumbler locks in the event the combination is lost. He plots to use the new Cybercylinder to rob safes which have the most money and valuables but the least security-- casino cruise ships plying the eastern Caribbean. Over the span of seven months, the new team of Robin Hoods successfully robs huge cruise ships and a casino from St. Martin to Aruba. The FBI, Scotland Yard and INTERPOL launch huge investigations to solve the crimes and return the stolen valuables. Because of the adroit use of the Cybercylinder, huge sums are stolen with no clues left. The detectives are forced to admit that they are perfect crimes.
