If a people's movement, Together we aim for the same sky. We should hail Marcus Garvey, Not jail Rastafari. From 'Letter to Comrade Maurice"
In the 50th anniversary of Grenada's independence, and 41 years after the traumatic demise of it's Socialist Revolution, 'The Untold Story' revises a dark chapter in the island's history often overlooked - the mass arrests and detention of Rastafarians by the People's Revolutionary Government (PRG), and their subjection to labour-camp-like conditions at the infamous Hope Vale detention centre. To a soundtrack of revolutionary anthems and archival snapshots, the verses march up and down - wailing in memory, loss and grief over this dim past, but ultimately rising to celebrate the triumphant redemption of the Rastaman:
Whoever tries to paint the picture In Portrait of Grenada With a page, a paragraph and a half Is but a faint scratch To defy the facts and deny the Ras From "Scalping History"
