Trends and Issues in Organizational Leadership

The phenomenon of leadership and the modern organization is studied academically in a variety of ways, ranging from appraising leaders or their techniques to examining current trends in the field. Outstanding leadership involves integrating knowledge from multiple areas of study and utilizing numerous skill sets. Finding a comprehensive, integrated text on education and human services was challenging. I would spend. hours looking for books and connecting with various publishers in search of adequate material for a course. Additionally, I often found myself assigning students two textbooks for a course, only to conclude that the textbooks assigned were inadequate. An overview (e.g., Roots and Context) is presented at the beginning of each chapter. Each chapter outlines essential principles of leadership (e.g. Limbs of Leadership) and key concepts (e.g., Seeds of Knowledge), and the conclusions (e.g., At the Core). Each chapter presents an overview of theories and key concepts that will be covered, a conclusion, and a review of current trends in the field.
