This book presents a new understanding of the biblical concept of the kingdom of God. In particular, it gives an alternative to the two contrasting views of the Reformed and Progressive Dispensational understanding of how to interpret the kingdom. These two interpretations have been long contested, and dispensationalism has undergone dramatic changes concerning the interpretation of key biblical passages, especially those pertaining to the covenants in the Old Testament. Progressive Dispensationalism is a recent reinterpretation of the classical views of both Scofield and Chafer. There is thus a great variance of opinions among three major positions--the Reformed, the classical, and the Progressive Dispensational. This book's proposed new position is termed Davidic Millennialism, with an interpretation centering on the understanding of the Davidic covenant. This book is written for both academics and those who are interested in a more comprehensive understanding of how to interpret current and future events in light of God's activity in the world.
