Wholehearted Leadership: A Toolbelt for Christian Leaders offers a unique perspective for Christian leaders written by a highly educated psychologist and experienced executive coach who has devoted the past 40 years to helping organizational leaders become more effective. Focusing primarily on the key attributes of wholehearted leadership, the author first outlines the 12 approaches Jesus exhibits in the Gospels as He leads the disciples. These include a focus on God (Trust in Almighty God, Focus on the mission, Work a clear plan, Make time for prayer), focus on Others (See team members' potential, Develop them, Empower them, Mobilize and direct them, Hold them accountable, Console them, Serve them) and focus on Self (Be Authentic). Using stories from his executive coaching clients for each of these 12 chapters, the author provides examples from real work situations, offers seasoned perspective, and illustrates how to lead wholeheartedly as Jesus did, described in Scripture. As a contrast, the book also describes how underlying irrational fears and feelings of being a fraud create halfhearted leadership approaches that can devolve into toxic or bullying behaviors. The final chapter exhorts Christian leaders to take on the wholehearted attributes of Jesus as leader and apply them in their daily work.
