The most futuristic production motorcycle of all time appeared in 1978 and it not only ended old specifications for design and comfort. At the same time, Kawasaki also introduced a number of groundbreaking technical innovations. Lower emissions, quieter, better aerodynamics, lower weight, improved electrics. Kawasaki also ended the power limitation agreement with the Z1 R TC, just as they planned to do with the Z1300. Ross and Ralph Hannan immediately recognized the high potential.
