This coloring book features 26 illustrations of many unique aspects of New Orleans-Style Carnival. Some pages feature Mardi Gras floats on the street, while others feature marching clubs, marching bands, the pageantry of Mardi Gras "royalty", as well as the creative costuming you see on the street on Fat Tuesday. Facing each illustration is a page title with a paragraph or two as a light description for those less familiar.
The city of New Orleans boasts an ever-evolving array of revelry during the entire season. This book begins with two carnival celebrations which take place on Twelfth Night, and follows with a sample of the multitude of parades and costuming events that fill the streets leading up to and on the final day of Carnival. Most importantly, it allows whomever owns the book to revel in becoming their own designer through their unique expression of color on these pages.
The book is the creation of Max Bernardi, an artist and resident of New Orleans, who has had the pleasure to both paint the floats and sculptures, but also to occasionally ride or march as a masquerader, and build her own costumes.
