Carlo Collodi (1826-1890), was an Italian journalist and writer from Tuscany who became very famous after writing the hugely successful Adventures of Pinocchio, published in 1883. The Adventures of Pinocchio is the story of trials and tribulations of a wooden puppet, which was originally published as a serial story in a children's magazine in Rome (1881-1882): The old Geppetto, a poor woodworker's dream is to create a singing and dancing marionette and travel the world to make a living as a puppeteer. His friend gives him a piece of wood to carve and Geppetto, names him Pinocchio. But Pinocchio, turns out to have a mind of his own even before being completed and begins to disrespect the old man and creates a series of headaches and troubles for his "father" and himself. After going through various fantastical life-threatening troubles, at the end the Blue Hair Fairy, one of the main characters of the story turns him into a regular boy.
