Descended from dragons but far from one herself, Ahena doesn't let it stop her from going toe-to-toe with the giants whenever she meets them on the battlefield. Of course, it helps that she has the magical strength to put most to shame, a fantastic group of friends fighting at her side, a personal guard of dragons sworn to put their lives before hers, and the title of Revered to give her clout.
No one really understands the bond she shares with the heir prince-best friends, family, maybe just two parts of a whole-but it doesn't matter. What does matter is that dragonkind learns to respect it and accept Wyndinral's place as the rightful heir to the throne. Giving a mere dragonkissed authority, in a society that says she doesn't even compare to the lowliest of dragons, didn't win the prince any favors. In fact, Ahena's fairly certain it cost him quite a few who'd remained loyal throughout the early years of the war. Many are disgusted by his unusual attachment to someone of a "lesser species," a "mongrel" at that, and are insulted he'd dare to place her above them. Thankfully, not all dragons feel this way, and she's beginning to see the dragons of The Revered's Watch might actually enjoy her company. too. Even if her insistence on being on the battlefield in person drives them insane.
