Kindness is Courage follows eight-year-old Mike, a thoughtful boy who moves from a busy military town to the slower-paced community of Louisburg. New to James Madison Elementary, Mike observes the schoolyard carefully, noticing a boy named David who uses fear and bullying to control others. When Mike befriends a small, timid boy named Timothy, he learns firsthand about David's long history of intimidation.
Rather than confronting David alone, Mike quietly gathers the courage to unite other kids - Sam, Lily, Joseph, Emma, and more - helping them realize that standing together with kindness and bravery can be stronger than fear. Their chance comes one recess when David tries to steal Timothy's soccer ball. Mike steps forward, his friends follow, and together they face David with quiet but firm resolve.
This act of collective courage inspires real change across the school. With support from the principal, Mike and his friends create a "Kindness Club," spreading the message of standing up for each other. Even David, at first distant, begins to soften over time through small acts of kindness.
Ultimately, Kindness is Courage shows that true bravery isn't about fighting - it's about standing together, helping others, and believing that kindness can overcome fear, one small act at a time.
