The world ended in 2018. It would have been more interesting to say there was a spectacular event of unforeseen magnitude that caused it, but there was no massive explosion, no nuclear fallout, and no zombie apocalypse. There wasn't even one definitive cause that crippled humanity. Just a series of avoidable mistakes and natural disasters that culminated to the end. It was disappointing, to say the least. If the world was going to end anyway, it would have at least been better if something cool happened, but instead, everything was reduced to a wasteland over the course of several years. From the deserts in the south to the poison-filled cities in the north, there was barely anywhere habitable left. Despite everything, humanity had to continue on and live with the consequences of its predecessors. After all, there was no point in dwelling on what couldn't be changed when there was work to be done.
