Baby Hippopotamus is being teased by his animal friends that he is anything but a hippopotamus. This has him very confused about his identity, so he seeks advice from others to find out who he truly is. After traveling far and wide he finally is told by a wise old owl that he is who he was created to be.

Written with my grandchildren in mind, I wanted my children to have an avenue to discuss with their children that every person does not necessarily have to follow the path that other people think they should go. The Psalmist writes, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Training up a child means preparing them for that which they are designed. Each of us has been created in the image of God with different gifts so that we can fulfill God's purpose in His kingdom, and I want parents to encourage skills and abilities of their child based on those gifts.

Parents can read this book to their children at a young age, and make them aware they will be told all sorts of things by others that have no bearing on their individuality. My hope and prayer being that my grandchildren (and your children and grandchildren) can benefit by knowing who they are and who they were created to be.
