A little raindrop named Mooki and his friends are lured up into a cloud by a seemingly kind spirit being. At first life is good on the cloud but soon it getting very crowded, very cold and very uncomfortable. The spirit then tells them to line up and get ready for their big adventure. Holes appear in the floor of the cloud and the spirit tells them they need to jump through but Mooki refuses to join the mob. His parents had always told him, freedom lay above in the bright sunshine. They all mock him for chasing after something he can't see but he goes his own way and fights his way up while his friends all plunge down.
After a long struggle, Mooki nearly gives up but a magical voice encourages him to keep going and, as he does, he notices his body is starting to change. The closer he gets to the warm sun the more he changes from the inside out and, when he finally emerges, his body is now glowing and shimmering with a beautiful light.
He then hears a voice and it's his long-lost mother with his father standing next to her. He rushes to them and embraces them and they tell him stories of their lives in the sky. When Mooki asks who it was that spoke to him as he was climbing, they tell him it was the king and that he'll meet him one day soon.
