Early September 2010: Reporters and partners, Trish and Ray, finished up a story when a new one landed right in their laps. Afraid of the authorities, she went to Trish and Ray, pleading for assistance. A young woman with a past, she and her sister are in peril. An unknown assailant sent them threatening notes at the handbag shop, while their reason behind the threats left them bewildered.

Trish and Ray take the case, figuring it'll be an easy win and a quick story. What Mrs. Bright told them screamed childish prank, but the further they delve into this situation, the more they realize danger lurks. An inspector with an agenda, hidden secrets at Oxford, and the most wanted loan shark on their steps as they look further into the matter.

In the messy web of lies and half-truths, Trish and Ray work hard to uncover the truth. But the truth is stranger than fiction when they realize they're dealing with a leprechaun, sirens and a much darker entity that haunts the Irwell River; its piercing red eyes spelling danger and death in the shadows. Will their drive to find the truth result in an exciting story, or will the dread in those red eyes pull them under?
