Walter, Count your blessings

It's the summer of 1977 and eight year-old Walter is going to visit his grandparents in the small town of Lake Hickory Ridge in North Carolina. As much as he will miss his friends Johnny, Tommy . . . and Darla, he can't wait to see Grandma Della and Grandpa Curtis. Excited about the fishing trips with Grandpa and helping Grandma at her bookshop, Walter is sure to have stories to tell when he gets home at the end of the summer.

But he hasn't even thought about everything he will learn from Grandma and Grandpa. Sure, Grandpa can show him the best way to catch the biggest fish and Grandma can give him a peek at the secrets behind her home cooking, but they both have something more they want to share with Walter, something that will help their little grandson grown up into a fine young man.
