At seventeen, Molly Sheridan is a lost ball in high weeds. Prompted by several of her high school teachers as she graduates from high school, she reluctantly agrees to try college. Suddenly afflicted with epileptic seizures, she drops out of school, terrified that she is facing imminent death. After serving time in jail for driving illegally, she is offered a second chance by a supportive lawyer and judge. She decides to return to college, choosing electronic engineering as her major. The next three years threaten to tear Molly's life apart. School is overwhelming, made more difficult by continuing seizures, her minimal social skills, and relentless self-doubt. A mysterious icon appears on her laptop, with a cryptic warning that her life is in peril. The warning is in the form of a riddle. Desperate to find the source of the warning, Molly soon discovers that her mind is being manipulated by a sinister force beyond her control. With the help of a professor and several classmates, Molly soon recognizes that the threat is far larger than all of them can imagine. The threat could destroy mankind. Finding the source is one thing. Stopping the attack is nearly impossible. Will they stop it in time, or will they die trying? All they know is that it could be somebody, nobody, or everybody, and that's not certain either.
