Flynn Wright was murdered. Rosie found him in the Bravestone Academy newsroom on Monday morning. His lifeless body was slumped over the desk with a dagger in his back. He had been foaming at the mouth, indicating a drug overdose. Rosie and her best friend Max become obsessed with finding out the truth. After all, Flynn used to be their best friend, and they used to have their detective club. However, no made-up childish mystery could prepare them for what really happened to Flynn. He wasn't the person they thought he was.

Hidden away in his desk is a mysterious letter. Written in calligraphy, the letter said:

The swords clash at midnight. it is time to fight for the crown. Remember the Knight's Rules.

The Knights were a fencing team at Bravestone until 2006. Now, Rosie speculates that they are operating underground. Her theory is proven more reliable when she remembers Flynn had a sword tattoo on his arm. He could be one of them.

As Rosie begins to dig through Flynn's past, she discovers that he was being threatened. Not just his reputation, but his life.
