Blindsided by a breakup, San Francisco software engineer Rave Beach decides to lick his wounds by joining a brand new dating app called LuvHop. The app's cartoon rabbit avatar is not misleading-it's jackrabbit fast in connecting people looking for love.
Fast as it may be, after a full week of using the app, Rave hasn't matched with a single person, so in frustration, he deletes it. The next day there's a knock on his front door and standing there is a towering and unshaven man in a dirty white rabbit suit smoking a cigarette. He informs Rave his name is Zander Rabbit and he's an HRRE: a House Rabbit Romance Expert sent by LuvHop to help Rave find love in real life.
Zander explains that in the app's Terms and Conditions (which Rave never read) it says that LuvHop dispatches HRREs to anyone with credit left and because Rave has three weeks to go, he's stuck with Zander.
Zander quickly moves in and instead of helping Rave find love, he wreaks havoc on his life. Before Rave knows it, Zander has the keys to his car, the password to his iPhone, possession of his laptop, the home address of his ex-girlfriend and insider information that the start-up Rave works for is about to go under.
Meanwhile, Zander is an unpredictable, wildly charismatic and utterly dangerous roommate: he smokes crack, steals boogie boards from kids at the beach, burns down yoga studios, buries bodies in the hills after dark, Venmos "students" in Thailand, brings home two mysterious accountants in bikinis, and throws a box of cleavers across the backyard into the fence.
Zander claims his process is at work and promises Rave will meet the love of his life before the three weeks are up, but whether or not Zander is working some weird magic and love really is just around the corner, Rave isn't sure he can live with a homicidal, crack-smoking rabbit long enough to even find out.
What's really throwing Rave off is that Zander seems to have an almost mystical knowledge about Rave's past as well as tremendous insight about his future.
Or maybe he's just making lucky guesses.
Rave isn't sure if Zander's presence is a wild scam, or if he's the only person he can trust.
