Early years for Dwight brought sorrows at time, yet joy rose to the occasion as he moved on into his high school years at Mckenzie High School in lower Alabama. He wrote his first poem in eighth grade English class, called (Spring) but never had it published. Even though it was an assignment in class, it stuck in Dwight's mind.
