'Menschens Portal Emporium'. 'Doors to the Multiverse' 'Where fiction steps into the light."
Third Edition: Revised Text with illustrated sketches of the main characters.
Menschens Portal Emporium is a sci-fi/fantasy romance set in an Earth-like world where interdimensional travel is routine but prohibitively expensive. Peregrine, a seventeen-year-old gap year student, meets sixteen-year-old Montana Menschen when he visits the emporium in search of a cheap flight.
It is love at first sight, but Peregrine is persuaded by the Menschen Brothers to go on a dangerous portal quest to find the key to lock down a world invaded by an army of the most fearsome creatures in literature.
In the multi-reality universe, fiction becomes fact, and Peregrine arrives in an alternative London in the year 1880. He encounters former characters from David Copperfield and Oliver Twist, living lives independently from the novel, refugees from the enemy army who occupy their world. Peregrine takes them to his home on Earth Minor and finds that Montana, thinking Peregrine dead, has been tricked by a rival into signing a wedding contract. The deceitful clerk Uriah Heep, from David Copperfield, proves to be an unlikely saviour, but it is not over for Peregrine yet.
He is abducted to an alternative reality where his life is only a play, and an actress named Julia has taken the part of his beloved Montana. She is the exact double of Montana, but she has a life in another world and rejects Peregrine. A portal opens briefly, but he cannot bear to leave Julia behind and frantically searches for her as the world disintegrates around him. But can he get back to the real Montana before the two realities permanently diverge?
