The Trojan war is deadlocked. Eight years have passed since Agamemnon, High King of Mycenae, beached his armada on the Trojan shores. But now Prince Hektor has devised a new strategy to break the stalemate: to seek an alliance with the Great King of the Hittites, the regional superpower. The journey, however, through the Taurus Mountains to the Great King's capital of Hattusa is long and dangerous. Hektor asks Troy's greatest ally, Sarpedon of Lykia, to undertake this hazardous mission. Sarpedon accepts and leaves his son, Adrestos, behind to aid in the City's defense. Adrestos is in love with Anteia, the sister of Hektor's wife Andromache, but they have quarreled. Before they can reconcile Adrestos is taken captive, during which he makes a discovery which could alter the course of the war if only he can escape. This is a novel of adventure and heroism, camaraderie, palace intrigue and love all set at the dawn of recorded history.
