When Mary O'Hare was in high school she already knew that passion was important to her. Both in others and herself...but she didn't know what hers was. Then a friend convinced her to try out for the high school play, and everything changed. Centered follows Mary's ascension on stage and in movies as she digs deeply to understand the passions and motivations of the characters she portrays. As she writes long backstories about her characters, she comes to an epiphany that surprises her: the true determinant of character is faith in God. She realizes that she is better at diagnosing the characters she portrays than herself, so she begins to focus on her own faith. Then she encounters Dave Conner, a successful college hockey coach who isn't particularly religious but has an abiding curiosity in spirituality.
Centered uses plays within plays and dramatic landscapes as backdrops to ruminations on the moments that matter most in life. Does God orchestrate those moments? And how do passionate people who achieve career success find time for faith?
