From musings about an aged grandfather's soul in "The Elder" to the epic verse of "The Child's Quest," followed by the quivering visit of the Devil to Father Mike in "The Confession of the Father Below" to the perhaps overwrought meditation on Casablanca in "Curtiz," before settling into what Sweeney calls his "Bird Song" phase, starting with the sonnet "Stranger" and ending with the two-part short story sequence "True Story," made up of "Deep Breath" and "Irish."

Levi Sweeney has lived an interesting life. And, starting with this volume, he wants to write about it all.
