In the late 1950's Nicky Pavlovich (aka Nicky V) had led a thriving auto theft business for twenty years. During this time, he befriended local Cicero cops and avoided trouble with the Chicago mob until his crew unwittingly boosted the car of a made man.

Dan O'Rourke had built his reputation as decorated combat sergeant and often suspended Chicago police detective. Faced with solving a mob hit, he and his partner brace Nicky V for the killing, hoping to send him to prison.

After being fired for punching his boss, O'Rourke accepts a handsome fee to find Nicky V's troublesome, missing daughter.
