Beautiful DIANA, who is still a Novitiate, is unlike the Nuns in her Irish convent. Her free spirit and love of dance cause her to be a stain on their reputation. The Mother Superior then finds a way to get rid of Diana by having Diana and a small group of nuns sent to Pretoria to provide medical aid in a growing war in South Africa. However, their Red Cross ship is stranded in Walvis Bay. Through Diana's plan, South African guides led them to Vereeniging. From there, they take a train to Pretoria. Aboard the train, Diana sets her eyes on a handsome doctor, JUAN. Diana is assigned to Juan at Volks Hospital in Pretoria to help with the patients since she has studied nursing. They begin to fall for each other, and soon begin a love affair, knowing their love for each other is forbidden. Their affair ends in tragedy, and soon afterwards, the British Army marches through the streets of South Africa in victory. The British military then constructed concentration camps. Diana is stationed as a nurse in a makeshift hospital in one such camp. But the British doctors and nurses do not care much for the Boer patients. Diana is kicked out of the hospital for disagreeing with their lack of medical care and lives among the prisoners. However, Diana's positive attitude improves the lives of all those she touches. The British Parliament has heated debates regarding the War. After negotiations are reached, the camps improve drastically. Diana sails back to her home country in Ireland and decides she will take a different path, as she adopts two young Africans as her foster children.
