Hand In Hand

These poems emerged from the silence and stillness that resulted from attending someone's death. Someone. Some One. Almost 9,000 people die every day in the U.S. 'People' is plural. But every one of that large number is one, one person, one individual, someone's father, mother, sister, brother, spouse, lover, enemy, friend, boss, coworker, neighbor, child.

How comfortable are you around someone who is dying? Are you silent because you don't know what to say? Are you afraid you'll say or do something wrong? Something foolish? Something hurtful?
