This story is a sweet tale of always finding your way to the ones you love. Our youngest daughter was born 6 weeks early and was in the NICU for 29 days growing & developing her tiny little body. During this time our family of five was constantly separated. Our older children, Lucille & Duke, were passed around between our amazing group of grandparents, aunts, & uncles; whom we will never be able to express our gratitude enough. Village activated. My husband and I were constantly divided trying to conquer all our responsibilities between a new baby in the hospital, two more under 4 at home, our 4 fur babies, the house, working to pay for everything, and not to mention I had just had a C-section delivery and needed some healing of my own. This was the hardest experience I, and we, have ever endured. During this time, our two older kiddos were so unbelievably strong and flexible. One day when my oldest, Lucille, was feeling extra sad and missing us she said, "If I were a butterfly, I would fly to my mommy and give her a hug." I still well with tears at this memory. From then on, we talked about how we would reach each other when we were apart, pretending we were different animals each time. Thus, the beginnings of this book was born. In addition, my daughter added her own little art to each of the illustrations we created together- can you find them all?
