Written anonymously by a service member during a brief layover before deployment, this book is a heartfelt attempt to help his children, as well as those of all service members and first responders, to understand the reasons for their parent's absence. Through words and images, it seeks to reassure young readers that a parent's love remains constant no matter the distance, time, or space that separates them.

Illustrated by Keith Hobgood and designed by Out of Our Minds Studios, the book captures the emotional weight of a parent's journey, whether they are stationed overseas or working long hours across a city. Keith's artistry portrays the deep feelings of deployment and duty, reflecting the sacrifices of military personnel, first responders, medical professionals and their families. This work honors these heroes and offers comfort to their children, who endure frequent absences with courage.
